4-Subs After Withdrawal From Service

During the 1970s and 1980s  large numbers of BRs Southern Railway designed class 405 4-Sub units (also known as Mary's by crews) were withdrawn and replaced by newer stock. Unlike the more recent withdrawals of main line slam door stock the Subs were often left for long periods in otherwise unused sidings before the final journey to the scrapyard.
These images were taken by my father at various locations where the trains were stored before their final journey.
