Something Scottish

I've just acquired a batch of 9cm x 6.5cm medium format negatives from the 1950s/1960s by a gentleman called Donald Luscombe. Apparently Mr. Luscombe travelled on Stephenson Locomotive Society tours in Scotland and the images are the results of some of these tours. So far I've scanned around half of them, and like the person who sold them I don't have a clue as to exact locations including the image highlighted here
Update 14/02/2014. This now looks to be taken at Loch Tay.

McIntosh designed 0-4-4T no. 55222 at Loch Tay
Lack of location is beside the point with this one. Of the images in this collection that I have scanned so far this is my favourite, it shows ex Caledonian Railway McIntosh designed 0-4-4T no. 55222. According to http://www.railuk.info/steam/getsteam.php?row_id=13716 the loco was stored at Stirling Shed from June 1960, withdrawn September 1961 and cut up at Inverurie Works in February 1962.

Some points of interest that might aid identification of the location:

  • The loco has a 63B Stirling shedplate .
  • The track looks a trifle overgrown.
  • There is point rodding between the loco and the platform
  • There is a headlight at the top middle position
  • I have no idea the significance of the of the caravan on the platform, but perhaps suggests this was no longer a passenger platform?

This second image is a crop and blow up of the first and is my favourite part of the image showing the smiling  on the footplate.
