From a less than perfect negative, this is 1500 V DC overhead powered class 76 electric loco 76056 after withdrawal at the now closed Reddish Depot.
Class 506 M59407M at Godley Junction 12/06/1978
1500 V DC overhead powered class 506 M59407M at Godley Junction 12/06/1978. This station on the Manchester to Glossop line has now been replaced and the line converted to 25 kV AC overhead operation.

Gorton Substation
The disused Woodhead route 1500 V DC overhead substation at Gorton after the route had been converted to 25kV AC. Curving away behind is the closed connection to Hyde Road station and the Fallowfield loop, closed in 1988.
